Machinery Selection & Used Equipment Buying
Choose construction and industrial equipment around the job, operating site and service needs. Rated capacity, condition and ownership cost require different records; a demonstration video cannot answer all three.
Questions to resolve before committing
What belongs in an equipment enquiry?
Specify the task, intended material or load, working space, expected hours, environment, power or fuel arrangement and delivery destination. Request the exact model, configuration and manufacturer manual. A machine’s headline rating may depend on its configuration and operating conditions.
How can I compare used machines?
Separate identity, observed condition, maintenance records and test results. Match serial plates to documents and ask who performed any inspection. Record faults and missing evidence as unknown; an hour-meter photograph alone is not a complete condition assessment. Use competent technical inspection for equipment-specific decisions.
Is renting or buying more economical?
Use current written quotations and the same utilisation assumptions. List mobilisation, rental limits, maintenance allocation, financing, insurance, downtime, storage and resale assumptions. Show a range when uncertain. A generic payback period cannot decide the right option for every contractor.
Evidence to keep in your comparison
| Check | Record | Do not substitute |
|---|---|---|
| Machine | Exact model, serial and configuration | Headline capacity alone |
| Condition | Dated inspection scope and service records | Seller video alone |
| Cost | Itemised rental and ownership quotations | A universal break-even number |
Our editorial method: retain the original file or source link, the date checked and a short note about what it establishes. Mark unresolved points explicitly. This is a practical record method, not a claim that DFC Cari inspected the product or completed the transaction.
