Cat 320 operating weight: keep the configuration tuple intact

Direct answer: do not quote an excavator’s operating weight without its configuration note. Caterpillar’s 320 product page presents 22,600 kg for a specified setup including a reach boom, R2.9 stick, 1.19 m³ HD bucket, 790 mm triple-grouser shoes and 4,200 kg counterweight. That figure is not a universal weight for every Cat 320.

Caterpillar product page checked 19 October 2026. The source is a manufacturer specification page; no machine was weighed or inspected.

Read the setup attached to the value

The source’s operating-weight note names the boom, stick, bucket, shoe width and counterweight used for the stated configuration. Removing that note leaves a number that may not match a quoted machine. For transport planning or procurement, request the exact offered configuration and its manufacturer weight sheet rather than assuming a standard package.

320 identity fields needed before comparing offers
Field Source example Check on actual offer
Base model Cat 320 hydraulic excavator Exact model generation and local version
Boom and stick Reach boom; R2.9 stick in cited note Offered combination
Bucket and undercarriage 1.19 m³ HD bucket; 790 mm shoes Actual bucket, shoe and any attachments
Counterweight 4,200 kg in cited note Installed counterweight and final machine weight

Choose the regional document, not just the model page

Caterpillar’s resource list offers separate 320 technical-specification documents for Australia/New Zealand, Europe, North America and other named regions. This is an important evidence clue for Southeast Asian sourcing: the page a search engine returns may not be the applicable version. Preserve the document’s region and do not apply a North American or European standard claim to a machine offered elsewhere without confirmation.

The page also lists emissions standards and performance fields. Those should be checked against local documents and exact configuration. This article makes no import-compliance conclusion, lifting recommendation, hauling estimate or availability claim.

Use a written source trail

For a dealer comparison, save the date, local product sheet, machine configuration, attachments and written quotation together. Where a transport or operating question is material, send the exact machine record to a qualified local professional. We have not contacted a dealer or verified a unit.
