NGK’s identification guide gives DPR5EA-9 as a plug part number and 2887 as its stock number. They are different identifiers for the same example, not two alternative heat specifications.
The guide explains that the plug carries the plug number, while the box shows both. It describes the stock number as an inventory aid rather than a code for heat range or plug type. A supplier comparison should therefore retain both fields instead of trying to decode the stock number as a technical rating.
Write an enquiry that can be matched
| Field | Example | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Plug number | DPR5EA-9 | Preserve the full alphanumeric identity |
| Stock number | 2887 | Retain the corresponding inventory reference |
| Vehicle application | Not supplied by this example | Verify separately in the applicable catalogue |
If a seller’s quote contains only the stock number, request the corresponding complete plug number. If a proposed substitute changes the suffix or other characters, ask for the manufacturer-supported application or cross-reference rather than assuming the change is cosmetic.
Do not turn the example into a recommendation
This guide does not recommend DPR5EA-9 for any particular engine. It does not determine a gap, heat range choice, tightening procedure or replacement interval. NGK’s own guide also notes an exception for racing-plug numbering, so one brief example is not a universal decoding rule.
The source is NGK’s U.S. resource page. A Southeast Asian order still needs the appropriate local vehicle application and exact offered product. No plug, package or seller was physically inspected. The practical benefit is a two-field identity record that avoids treating an inventory number as an engine specification.
Manufacturer sources read 19 October 2026. This is a document-based purchasing guide, not a hands-on test, installation instruction or confirmation of current stock. Exact local application and offer terms need the supplier’s written confirmation.
