ASEAN NCAP’s 23 September 2026 notice uses a Version 4.3 heading for its frontal-impact amendment notes and explicitly points readers to the full Version 4.4 protocol. A citation should identify whether it refers to the news explanation or the linked complete document.
Official notice and its document link checked 19 October 2026. This is a publication-version guide, not a test result or a vehicle-safety recommendation.
Two labels, two citation objects
The amendment heading says Frontal Impact: Version 4.3 – Sep2026. Later on the same page, ASEAN NCAP describes its download as the full Version 4.4 protocol. The link’s filename also identifies Version 4.4. Reading only the heading can therefore produce a different reference from reading the download label.

How to use the reference
For a news summary, cite the dated notice and explain that it links a full 4.4 document. For a technical quotation, identify the actual document version and relevant page rather than transferring the heading’s version number onto the PDF. Keep a downloaded copy with its retrieval date if a project requires a reproducible source trail.
The different labels alone do not prove an error or a later correction. This article does not infer an unannounced change or resolve the history beyond the explicit labels on the official notice.
A protocol announcement is also not a model-specific assessment. It cannot establish a car’s star rating, assessed variant or performance. Use a dated vehicle result for that separate question and keep its tested market and protocol with it.
