Suspect NGK Spark-Plug Lot: Build an Evidence File Before Calling It Counterfeit

If an NGK spark-plug shipment appears suspicious, preserve the lot and its purchasing evidence before labelling it counterfeit. Packaging is only one part of that file. Record the exact plug designation, physical markings and seller trail, then seek advice through an official Niterra route. DFC Cari has not authenticated or inspected any shipment for this article.

Use the manufacturer’s example within its limits

Niterra’s February 2019 EMEA guide discusses counterfeit CR9EIX spark plugs and illustrates checks involving the plug’s lettering, caulking, hexagon lot marking, C-groove and electrode. Its wording treats certain features as possible warning signs. Those examples should not become a universal packaging verdict for every NGK product, production date or sales market.

The official contact page links to the counterfeit guide and offers a route for enquiries. Contact details and the relevant regional representative should be checked on the official site when seeking advice. This guide does not promise a response time or a particular authentication service.

Prepare a reviewable lot file

  • Identify the purchase: invoice, seller identity, order reference, delivery date and the exact designation ordered. Keep personal information private.
  • Record the received quantity and separate lot markings. Do not mix observations from several boxes into one untraceable statement.
  • Photograph the box label and the full plug, then capture readable close-ups of the designation and lot marking without altering the product.
  • Describe each observed discrepancy against a specifically named official illustration or document. Write what is visible, not an unsupported conclusion.
  • Keep the original packaging, correspondence and product together so that a later reviewer can connect photographs to the physical lot.
  • Ask the official representative what further evidence is required and retain the dated answer. Keep uncertain stock out of an approved application order until the concern is resolved.

Distinguish three different outcomes

“No discrepancy seen in photographs,” “manufacturer advice pending” and “review completed with a documented conclusion” are different statuses. DFC Cari’s editorial method is to preserve that distinction in the purchasing record. A seller’s assurance or an attractive box should not be silently promoted to manufacturer confirmation.

Similarly, a genuine-product conclusion would not establish that the plug fits the intended engine. Keep the application record separate from the lot review. This avoids resolving an authenticity concern while leaving an incorrect or unsupported substitution in the purchase order.

Do not dismantle, modify or install uncertain stock simply to generate evidence. A physical test or technical inspection requires an appropriate qualified route, not an improvised buyer experiment. This article provides a documentation workflow only.

Buyer questions

Does an unfamiliar box prove the plugs are fake? No. Record the difference and ask for a supported answer; this article has not established all legitimate packaging variants.

Can a lot number alone settle authenticity? It is one piece of evidence, not a conclusion. Connect it to the product, purchase and any official review response.
